Thanks a Bunch - TRR27 MUTED PASTELS

Hello everyone,

I'm back with my DT card for The Ribbon Reel Challenge No. 27.  Zuzana has chosen this gorgeous inspirational picture and asks that we use Pretty Muted Pastels to create a card/project using pastel from the picture with blue and ribbon/lace/twine and a button.

My card consists of beautiful muted blue and peach toned background papers, a Waltzingmouse stamped label in peach coral  and sweet sentiment stamped in blue/grey London Fog ink.  I couldn't resist adding some of The Ribbon Reel's gorgeous paper flowers as well!!

Here's a close-up of those lovely stamped labels

Some stunning tea-roses, hydrangea daisy and cherry blossom flowers from The Ribbon Reel;

and beautiful pink May Arts crochet lace trim, some muted rose-petal pink seam binding with a sweet little blue button threaded with natural button twine  from The Ribbon Reel to finish.

TT95 'Use Some Sparkle' with The Cutting Cafe

Hi everyone.

The Cutting Cafe are sponsoring our challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown this week and this week, our challenge is to "use some sparkle." 

I was lucky enough to play with the "Fun with Dress Forms printable set" for todays card.  I printed the tailors dummy onto brown cardstock and then distressed using Brushed Corduroy Distress ink.  I paper pieced the dress using Pink Paislee paper from their London Market collection. The belt was created using some antique gold velvet ribbon, some pearls and that beautiful flower is from one of the dress form designs included in the Cutting Cafe set. I simply added co-ordinating colours using my Copic Markers and attached it to the belt using a foam adhesive circle.

The 'sparkle' element to my card is the pretty white butterfly shape that I cut using the 'Wonderful Wings' die set by Spellbinders. I simply applied glue to whole area using a glue pen and then sprinkled on a touch of 'dazzling diamonds' glitter over the top.  I also used Spellbinders Labels 8 die to cut some cute hearts paper included in the "Animal and bug mini colored circle set"  by The Cutting Cafe to make a sweet background and then used some gorgeous Champagne Silk Ribbon from The Ribbon Reel to create that yummy bow!

I had a lot of fun with the Dress Forms - I should also mention that there is also a cutting file included with the digital download for those of you lucky enough to own a cutting machine and lots of wonderful Dress Form designs to kick-start your creativity.  You can either use a single dress form shape and pop it onto your cardbase as I have here, or you can use one of the Dress Form outline/template to make the actual card shape. A New Bunny to Snuggle...Waltzingmouse April Blog Party

Hello friends - It's time for another monthly Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party!!! Yippeeee!!!! This months theme is 'New Beginnings' and you can find all the details by going HERE.

I have a little 'New Baby' Card with a twist to share with you today :) I wanted to try something a little different and was so inspired after seeing Kazan Clark's stunning diamond fold card, that I decided to give it a go!!

Basically if you're like me and didn't know what these cards do, the recipient receives this....



and it opens out to reveal this...



and a slightly different view...



I used small heart border included in the 'Nordic Spring' set by Waltzingmouse and stamped in red ink across a piece of blue cardstock, adhering it onto some cute polka-dot patterned paper when I was done.  I addded some pretty blue ric-rac trim along the top and bottom edge of my heart border after making my initial score lines onto the cardstock.



I stamped the cute little bunny image from the 'L'il Buddies' stamp set onto more of the same polka-dot patterned paper and went in with copics to give him a little extra definition.  The label on which he sits is from the 'Very Vintage Labels No.1' stamp set - it's a little hard to see from the pictures but I used two different stamps from the set but the red labels one outline seems to stand out the most.

My Diamond Fold card is obviously A LOT simpler than Kazan's, but the principle is the same and I'm really pleased with the end result.  There's a fab tutorial and video HERE too if you fancy trying it for yourself.

I used the colours from this week's Play Date Cafe Color Challenge and could have kicked myself, as I was just too late to play along!! Silly me!!

Hi friends, just popping in to share a card super-quick for a couple of challenges....

I recently invested in some of the most gorgeous stamps by Flourishes - I found a company called 'Make the Day Special' that sells them in the UK! Yay!! This week's Timeless Tuesday challenge over at the Flourishes blog is to use your favourite Flourishes stamp images and although this is the very first time these 'Zinnias' stamps have seen ink, they are fast becoming a firm favourite!!

'Recycle It' Challenge TT94 with Meljen's Designs

Hello, Good Morning and welcome to another great Tuesday Throwdown Challenge !! This week we are asking that you 'Recycle It' - (use Recyled materials of some sort)!!  

We are also lucky enough to be sponsored by Meljen's Designs - a fabulous company with a great selection of digital stamps for you to enjoy!  I have used the "Happy Birthday Swirls" and the cute little raggedy lion images. 

The adorable little lion image was printed and then cut-out twice, coloured simply using some Copic markers and then his front legs and head popped up using some foam adhesive for dimension. I also used Copics to add a little extra colour to the lovely swirly frame and sentiment too.

So, my recycled materials are actually things I've taken from around the house:

Kraft coloured cardboard from the back of one of my son's easter egg  box, die cut using Spellbinders Blossom die set...

...and a little blue t-shirt that my son's have outgrown, again die cut using Spellbinders Floral Doily dies and made into the flower next to the sentiment.  

...I also used some left over packaging from some trims I bought from Making Memories Animal Crackers line to make the circular background die cut on which the little lion sits. I thought the subtle blue animal line drawings tied in with the main image quite well.

TRR#26 - There is no-one like you...

Good morning and welcome to another fun challenge at The Ribbon Reel!!

My good friend Pauline is our wonderful host this fortnight and she asks that we make something based on the colours found in the inspiration picture below, use Ribbon PLUS something Recycled!! Sounds fun!

I decided to alter a papier mache heart Magnet which I seem to have had in my stash for quite a while - and here it is attached to the metal notice-board in my kitchen.

My 'Recycled' item is an old Simplicity Dressmaking pattern which I have used to create the puffy flower you see here.

I simply cut lots and lots of layers of the tissue using the Spellbinders Floral Doily die, scrunched and secured in the centre using a large brad.  I used some Matt effect Mod Podge glue to cover the entire heart in more of the dressmaking pattern tissue,  thereby creating an interesting textured background and basis for the paint.

I used pale blue acrylic paint as a base colour and then used some recycled bubble wrap, covered in lilac paint to add some polka dots!! love this effect!! I used some cream paint to wash over the top and then put aside to dry for a little while.

As I was thinking along the lines of 'recycling', I thought about metallic materials and was drawn to the Gold Silky Crush ribbon from The Ribbon Reel which I wrapped across the top of the heart.  I then picked out the pinky colour from the inspiration pic and pleated some pink floral cotton lace and wrapped it over the silky gold ribbon.  I created some lovely loops of charcoal grey seam binding (which has a gorgeous, almost metallic sheen to it irl) and the glued the tissue paper flower on top.

I stamped a little sentiment from an old Hero Arts stamp set, cut-out by hand and then distressed using Tea Dye and Antique Linen Distress Ink

To give a nice neat finish, I used some of TRR's pretty blue and white striped grosgrain ribbon to edge all the way around the outside of the heart.

Avery Good Morning to you blog friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday and enjoyed wherever you were/whatever you were doing :)

The weeks certainly seem to be flying by don't they? I'm excited to be here again, sharing another card as DT member for the 'Tuesday Throwdown' Challenge - our theme this week is to use Pins - no hardship for me as I absolutely love them!.  Our  fabulous sponsor for this week is...My Grafico and I'm a big fan!

I was lucky enough to use the beautiful 'Lacey Frames' Digital Stamps designed by Lil Ellaboudy and the 'Fabric Flower' from the 'Doodle Flowers' Digital Stamp Set designed by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff - all available at 'My Grafico'

I printed the oval frame onto some woodgrain patterned paper and fussy cut around the sweet scalloped edge. The doodle flower was printed onto some green pattened paper and then again three times onto yellow patterned paper, the leaves and petals were cut out and then arranged for dimension using foam adhesive.  I threaded the green paper button with some natural jute twine, just as I would with a real button!

The little green leaves really have a beautiful shape to them I think.  Love the home-spun feel to the frames and the cute flower.

I finished with some pretty yellow leaf-pins and some sheer organza ribbon.

One Layer Card...WMSC81 & PDCC126

Happy Friday everyone!!

Today I'm sharing a one-layer card - which is a little bit of a rarity for me I have to admit, but I so enjoyed playing!!  I inked up Waltzingmouse's Dainty Doilies Large and Small sets and stamped to my heart's content.  I love how you can stamp a circle within a circle - I was even able to use some of the tiny circle designs from 'teeny trees' to fit into the large doily design on the left.

Good morning!

I'm so happy you stopped by to say Hi!! I have a sweet card to share as DT member for the fabulous 'Tuesday Throwdown' challenge this week - our sponsor is 'Robyn's Fetish' and our theme is to 'Use Pastels'.

I was fortunate enough to use this little lady called 'Angie Angel' who is a Digi Stamp by Robyn's Fetish stamps. She is paper pieced using lots of lovely Pink Paislee papers (see supplies list for details) and coloured using Copics.  Her dress is patterned paper from London Market by Pink Paislee and wings are text paper from the same line.  I added a little blue to the bottom using a copic marker and sprinkled on some dazzling diamonds glitter - because every girl needs a little glitter sometimes :).  Angie is holding a peaches and cream paper flower and the original flower that comes with the digi is coloured with blue and blush pink and paper pieced to make a sweet addition to her dress.  I didn't add a sentiment this time, but will probably personalise it for the next girlie birthday party my boys attend.

I used Melissa Frances 5th Avenue paper to die cut an oval shape using nestabilities and then created a blue cardstock frame using the two largest nestability oval shapes.  I trimmed the oval using some May Arts light blue pastel loopy trim - love this stuff!!   I added some beautiful pink and peachy toned paper roses to my frame and then added sweet little Angie using foam dimensional adhesive. The patterned paper background is Melissa Frances 5th Avenue (left) and Pink Paislee London Market (right).

I used some pale blue seam binding tied in a bow and a sweet crystal blue brad to finish.

But that's not all...

I am continually inspired by the fantastic talents of all the CR84FN DT and their challenges and challenge 51 is no exception!! This beautiful colour board inspired me to use the combination of pink, peach and light blue on my card...

I'm also playing along with the much beloved 'Card Patterns' super sketch this week by Michelle Bertuzzi - Yay!!! I rotated the sketch and altered the position of the flowers slightly too :). I hope the scalloped design on the Melissa Frances paper counts for the pretty border too.

I've also entered the 'Stamptacular Sunday' - Playing with Pastels Challenge too :)

TRR25 Happy Easter - Faberge Style!

A sunny good morning to you!

I'm sharing my creation as design team for The Ribbon Reel's fortnight's challenge hosted by my teamie, Fran who has chosen the absolutely gorgeous photo for your inspiration...isn't it beautiful??

...and she asks that you create a card / project using the colours in the photo with a Spring or Easter theme! It's your chance to win some beautiful ribbons and other goodies from The Ribbon Reel shop - just for entering!!

I was drawn to the beauty of those sweet blue eggs and decided to use The Ribbon Reel's trims to decorate my stamped eggs. 

I used blue ric-rac on the first egg, some natural button twine on the second and some pale blue loopy trim with tiny blue pearls on the third.  The are sitting on some white silky crush ribbon that I gathered using a needle and thread and some more of the sweet pale blue gingham.  My background is very subtle - some cream and white patterned paper from Pink Paislee's Nantucket collection and some light blue mini ric-rac trim from The Ribbon Reel at the top and along the bottom.

The large Faberge style egg is a stamped image from Waltzingmouse's 'Nestie Eggs'.  I used some versamark ink and then heat embossed the image using pearlescent embossing powder,  I edged the outside of the egg using The Ribbon Reel's gorgeous blue loopy trim and then added May Arts white silky crush, sky blue gingham and white Organza spot ribbon at the top.  A loopy trim bow and button finished with blue gem finishes the top of this faberge egg.

  

I couldn't help adding a flower - this one is a stunning gardenia blossom to which I've added just a hint of blue ink to a few of the petals.

The little white chipboard heart is stamped with colorbox brown chalk ink.  The 'Easter' sentiment is from the same Nestie Eggs set and the other little image is from WMS's 'French Country'.
